Growing Roots is committed to making high-quality Montessori-inspired preschool and childcare in Custer, South Dakota accessible to local families. We believe financial barriers should not prevent children from receiving strong early childhood education in the Black Hills.

Scholarships are open to families who may need help with tuition. You do not need to meet state income limits to apply. We review each family’s situation individually through a simple, respectful process.

Applying is simple:
Complete our Enrollment Interest Form.
Check "Yes" when asked if you would like scholarship information.
Our director will contact you with the scholarship information, next steps, and an expected timeline for a decision.
Applications are reviewed through a private and respectful process by our scholarship committee.
Your information is handled with care and kept confidential.

Growing Roots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit preschool serving families in Custer, South Dakota and across the Black Hills. As a community-supported early childhood education program, we reinvest donations, grants, and scholarship funds directly back into our classrooms and students.
Our scholarships are made possible by local donors, businesses, and community members who give specifically to Growing Roots to help ensure all families can access high-quality preschool and childcare. Their support allows us to set aside tuition costs for local children and offer a simpler, more respectful scholarship process directly through Growing Roots.
